Full attention, flexible timing and a faster progress curve — for first-timers and improving surfers alike.
A group lesson has to teach to the average person in the group. A private lesson can spend the entire two hours on exactly what is holding you back — whether that is a complete beginner who freezes up paddling into a wave, or someone who already surfs at home and wants their pop-up or duck dive fixed before a trip to Uluwatu.
Because there's only one student, your instructor can also react to the ocean in real time instead of managing a group — moving you to a cleaner peak the moment one opens up, or holding the board steady for that one extra second a nervous first attempt needs.
It's also the easiest format to fit around your schedule. Want the glassy 6:30 AM window before the wind picks up, or a sunset session after a day at the beach club? A private booking is built around your time, not a group departure slot.

The same Canggu beach breaks, with every minute of coaching focused on you.
No sharing coaching time — every wave gets a correction before the next one.
Book the early glassy window, midday, or sunset — whatever actually fits your day.
Your instructor films a few attempts on their phone so you can see what to adjust.
One student means your instructor can pick the exact peak that suits your level that day.
Most private students cover in one session what takes several group lessons to work through.
From a first-ever lesson to an experienced surfer fixing one specific habit.
First lesson, or fixing something specific? Let your instructor know on WhatsApp before you arrive.
Early, midday or sunset — your instructor is dedicated to you for the full 2 hours either way.
Real-time correction after every attempt, with a few clips filmed between sets to review together.
Rp 650.000 per person for a fully dedicated 2-hour session — board and instructor included.
Prices in Rupiah, each format booked as a 2-hour block.
From first-timers who wanted full attention to surfers fixing a specific habit.
“Private lesson turned into a proper coaching session — footage review, tips on my paddle timing, the works. Worth every rupiah for how fast it moved my surfing along.”
“Did a private lesson specifically to fix my pop-up timing before a trip to Uluwatu, and it worked — the instructor filmed me on his phone between sets and showed me exactly where I was late. Best money I spent in Bali.”
“Was staying in Berawa for a month and did three group sessions here — you can tell the coaches actually live and surf this stretch, they read the sandbanks better than any school I've used elsewhere in Bali.”
What people usually ask before booking a one-on-one session.
If this is a one-off holiday activity, group is a fine, fun way to try surfing. If you actually want to get better fast — fix a specific habit, build confidence past the whitewater, or just hate sharing instructor attention — a private session covers in one lesson what can take three or four group sessions to work through.
Yes — most of our private bookings are actually people who already surf and want specific correction: pop-up timing, duck diving, reading a lineup, or getting comfortable on a shortboard for the first time. Tell us your level and what you want to work on when you message us.
A private lesson is priced and run as one-on-one, so two people booking together would normally take the semi-private format instead — same small-group attention, two people, one instructor, slightly lower price per person than two separate privates.
Any slot between 6 AM and 6 PM. Because it is a dedicated instructor just for you, private is the easiest format to book around an early-morning glassy window or a sunset session if that is what your schedule allows.
Yes, informally — most instructors will film a few waves on their own phone between sets so you can see your pop-up or positioning afterwards. It is not a polished GoPro production, just a quick, useful review tool included in the lesson.
If you have surfed with someone on our team before and want them again, tell us on WhatsApp when you book and we will do our best to match the request, subject to their availability that day.
